Non sono mai stata una gran romantica: detesto il rosa e gli abiti a balze, non ho mai riempito il diario di cuoricini e non ho mai avuto una gonna a tutù. Di recente ogni programma che comprenda una torta o un abito nuziale mi procura l’orticaria, ma questa è un’altra storia.

Ma anche se al momento il mio livello di romanticismo è pari a quello del calcestruzzo, mi affascina la storia di Lilla Berenice: il suo epitaffio contiene l’intera sceneggiatura per un film di Jane Champion.

Cosa ci faceva in Australia e quando ci era arrivata? Che aspetto aveva, chi erano i suoi genitori? Come aveva conosciuto il suo conte, tanto amato da attraversare il mondo?

Riuscirà a coronare il suo sogno? Certo che sì ma, come tutte le storie d’amore che si rispettino, il finale è tragico.

onde era disceso.

I’m not a romantic  soul: I hate the pink colour, never filled my diary with a lot of little hearts during my teens and never owned a tutù. At the moment, I can’t see any television program where compare happy wifes and grooms and big bride party whit giant white cakes. But this is a different tale.

But, even my level of romanticism is the same of the cemento armato one, I’m a fan of Lilla Berenice and her history fashineted me. Her epitaph seems like a Jane Champion’s film.

Why she lived in Australia in 1911 and when she arrived there? Who were her parents? Was she beautiful? Had she long hair, blonde or black? Where and when she met count Tenderini, so loved to ship all around the world, to reached Rome? But every great love history has a tragic final.

She loved count Giuseppe Tenderini so hardly, that she leaved from Australia, where she spent her life until she reached 25 years old, and arrived to Rome. Here they married on 22th June 1911 but 19 days after the bride, she died colpita da tifo

So her dream of love vanished and she leave her gentle body into the grave, while her soul flied to the Heaven.
